Paralegal Associate Degree
The paralegal is a critical member of the legal support team. Paralegals are responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, maintaining legal files and interacting with clients as well as providing critical administrative support in the office. The Paralegal Studies student will learn how to investigate and gather the facts of a case. They will learn processes and procedures to conduct research, maintain documents, gather evidence, write reports, draft legal documents, file exhibits, briefs and appeals. The student will learn how to better communicate with clients, witnesses and lawyers to make them feel comfortable during interviews and depositions. This Paralegal Studies Certificate program introduces you to the essential computer applications necessary to the legal field.
What our students learn
The Advanced Paralegal Studies student will learn how to be a better law office manager. They will learn how to plan, direct and coordination legal services in the law firm, agency or organization. The student will perfect supervisory skills to manage legal clerical and administrative personnel. This program will arm legal office managers with analytical skills, communication skills, and leadership skills to manage and coordinate administrative duties at the organization.
Employment of paralegals and legal assistants is projected to grow 12 percent from 2020 to 2030 according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics †, much faster than the average for all occupations. As law firms try to increase the efficiency of legal services and reduce their costs, they are expected to hire more paralegals and legal assistants.
