NYS Assembly Member John T. McDonald III & Mayor of Albany Kathy Sheehan to Speak at Mildred Elley Graduation
ALBANY, NY– Mildred Elley will hold its commencement on Tuesday, July 29,2014 at 6PM at the Palace Theater in Albany. About 150 students will receive certificates and degrees from several different programs including Business Management, Medical Assisting, Paralegal Studies, Practical Nursing, Information Technology, Office, Project, and Event Management, and Massage Therapy.
Democratic Candidate for the New York State 49th Senate District, Madelyn Thorne will deliver the keynote address at Mildred Elley’s commencement. Thorne currently serves on the board of directors for The Upper Union Street Business Improvement District and Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County, and was recently inducted to Zonta International. She is also an active volunteer for The League of Women Voters and Friends of Schenectady County Library (Whitney Book Corner). Madelyn has previously served as Pastoral Care Director, Glendale Nursing Home in Schenectady County, where she expanded volunteer programs by reaching out to Stratton Air Base, Northeast Parent and Child, Union College, and local schools. She is also a retired Industrial Sales Account Executive. Madelyn and her husband Chuck Thorne live in Schenectady, NY, and have three grown children and four grandchildren.
The commencement ceremony will include a presentation of awards including the Excellence In Teaching Award, the Presidential Award and Academic Achievement Awards.

Mildred Elley Pittsfield was founded on February 2, 1991 and has been educating students in the Berkshires for over twenty years. Through the combined campuses, Mildred Elley offers programs in Business Management, Cosmetology, Massage Therapy, Medical Assisting, Information Technology, Early Childhood Education, Paralegal Studies, Practical Nursing, and several online course options.
