Medical Assistant Program

The Department of Medical Assisting at Mildred Elley offers three program options, one degree and two certificates.
These three programs prepare college students for entry-level positions in physician’s offices and other medical facilities. These programs help provide the training and develop the skills necessary to excel in the healthcare industry.
During the course of training, medical assistant programs students will learn analytical skills and become more detail oriented to take precise vital signs and record patient information. The college student will learn interpersonal skills to be better at discussing patient information with colleagues and help patients with education to live a healthier lifestyle. The medical assistant program student will learn basic clinical instrument skills, so they can take patient’s vital signs. These are only a few of the skills a student will learn attending Mildred Elley’s Medical Assistant program.
Employment for medical assistants is expected to grow 23% from 2014 to 2024 as reported by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.† This is much faster than the average growth rate for other occupations.
