PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Practical Nursing program is a credit-bearing, college-level program that prepares its graduates for licensure as a practical nurse (LPN) in the state of New York and subsequent practice of the profession of practical nursing as defined in the Commissioner’s Regulations (“performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered professional nurse or licensed physician, dentist or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under the regulations”).
The graduates of the program will be well prepared for successful passing of the NCLEX-PN examination, obtaining NYS licensure as LPNs, and subsequent employment in the field, as well as for future advancement to two-year professional nursing degrees and four-year baccalaureate programs in nursing, health sciences, and related fields.

Mildred Elley New York Metro Campus will not have a Practical Nursing graduating class until July 2011. We expect graduates from our practical nursing program to be employed as Licensed Practical Nurses upon successfully passing the NCLEX examination.
