PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Health care professions are one of the fastest growing career fields in the country. The Associate’s degree program in Medical Assistant encompasses both administrative and clinical skills, enhancing a graduate’s success in the medical field, and builds upon the foundations provided by the Certificate programs in Clinical Medical Assistant and Medical Office Assistant.
The Clinical Medical Assistant program provides an in-depth analysis of human anatomy and physiology, clinical and laboratory procedures, and patient contact skills utilized in a clinical environment. In the growing health care field, clinical and technical skills are critical for success. This program offers students the specialized skills and training necessary to meet the demands of medical offices and allied health care facilities.
The Medical Office Assistant program offers students the skills necessary to meet the administrative requirements of medical offices and allied health care facilities. This program offers an intensive study of medical office management and procedures, insurance processing and transcription of medical reports.

This information provided includes all students who completed the program(s) between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011. Three students are included in this sample, all graduates of our May 2011 class.
What kinds of jobs did they get?
Students obtained employment as Certified Nursing Assistants and Medical Assistants. We expect graduates from upcoming medical assisting programs to be employed as medical assistants, phlebotomists, patient care technicians, administrative personnel in various medical facilities and related roles.
Who were their employers?The May 2011 students are employed at Partners in Care, Jewish Home Lifecare, and Sephardic Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. We expect our future medical assisting graduates to secure work in nursing homes and long-term care facilities, hospitals, medical offices, medical agencies, community health centers, clinics and similar medical facilities.
How do we survey our graduates?
Graduate surveys are conducted for each cohort of graduates approximately ninety days upon graduation.

Mildred Elley periodically submits job placement information both to the New York State Education Department and to the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
Mildred Elley is approved by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York to offer the Associate in Occupational Studies (A.O.S.) degree and undergraduate Certificate programs, and its programs are registered by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
