Albany Campus to Graduate over 100 Students

January 27, 2012 (Albany, NY) – Mildred Elley will hold its commencement on January 31, 2012 at the Albany Marriott. Over one hundred students will receive certificates or degrees from several different programs including Practical Nursing; Paralegal Studies; and Business Management.

 

The Honorable Carolyn McLaughlin, President of the Albany Common Council, will deliver the keynote address. President McLaughlin has more than 24 years of experience in public service, preceded by 10 years as a research chemist in the areas of cosmetics development and nuclear weapons research. In January 2010, McLaughlin began a four-year term as the first African-American President of the Albany Common Council. In addition to serving as an elected leader, McLaughlin is also an Assistant Manager in the Human Resources Department of the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System, where she is responsible for quality training and coordination of the annual MWBE Investments conference. Prior to this assignment she served as Assistant Manager for Budget and Planning for seven years. This was preceded by 11 years with the New York State Division of Budget.

Many of them have faced challenges along the way such as juggling the demands of family and work while attending school. We are extremely proud of the members of our Mildred Elley graduating class and we wish them well in their future endeavors.”
