With the Massachusetts Unemployment Rate at 7.6%, Mildred Elley in Pittsfield Still Manages to Place 82% of its Graduates in Gainfully Employed Positions

August 23, 2011 (Pittsfield, MA) – The unemployment rate in Massachusetts may be 7.6 %, but Mildred Elley in Pittsfield is still able to place 82% of its graduates in gainfully employed positions in their field of study.

“You may ask yourself how is this possible when jobs are hard to come by in this economy,’ notes Faith Takes, President and CEO of Empire Education Corporation and Mildred Elley. “We are teaching students the cutting-edge skills they need to be successful in an ever-changing economy. With the latest downturn, there are many jobs that are being done away with, and those jobs may never come back. We are seeing an increased need for retraining. Many of our students are coming back to school to be trained to do something entirely different. Others realize they need more advanced training to give them that edge in a competitive workforce and take their career to the next level.”

“We are seeing that skilled workers are the ones getting the jobs,” explained Jillian Fleming, Director of Career Services at Mildred Elley Pittsfield. “We work very closely with our local employers and community leaders to make sure our curriculum is relevant and current. We keep an eye on the present demands of the local workforce and are proactive in identifying future demands so that our students are prepared and ready to work upon graduation. It is no coincidence that we are placing 82% of our graduates. We work hard to provide our students with career training for today’s world. That is what Mildred Elley is all about.”
